The Paris Resort Las Vegas

The first time I saw Las Vegas I was high in the mountains of Utah, staring out into the night at this glowing metropolis. Begging me to come down to her and take it easy for a few days.

Astronauts talk about how the “Overlook Experience” of staring down at the Earth from space changes how you think of our world. As I’ve learned over the years, seeing Vegas high up will change your perspective on Sin City in more ways than one. You certainly come away with a unique experience that will separate you from most other Las Vegas tourists.

So, I thought it was high time to get the low down on some of the best aerial adventures Las Vegas has to offer.

The Las Vegas Strat Tower
Get Tickets for the Strat Tower Observation Deck

The STRAT Tower Observation Deck looms large over the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. Rising 1,149 feet high it offers the highest vantage point in the city and is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the U.S. The Skypod experience is also available here.

From its indoor and outdoor decks you can take in sweeping 360-degree views of the glittering neon skyline, desert mountains, and beyond. If you have a little bit of a fear of heights, but want to conquer the Observation Deck, the Strat Skypod are great options.

It’s a must-do experience if you’re staying at one of the Strat’s discounted rooms.

Pro Tip: I recommend combining the observation deck experience with dinner at Strat’s Top of the World restaurant. Set up reservations to have dinner at sunset, then after dinner go out to see the light of the Las Vegas come up. A perfect romantic evening if you’re already staying at the Strat.

If you’re looking to take your Las Vegas adventure to the next level, the STRAT Sky Jump is the ultimate thrill. Imagine stepping off the edge of the tallest observation tower in the U.S. and free-falling 829 feet straight down at speeds topping 40 mph. You’ll leap from the 108th floor with the neon-lit Strip, rugged desert, and endless sky surrounding you — it’s not just a jump, it’s a heart-pounding, once-in-a-lifetime rush.

I really appreciated the staff handling the experience. They really knew how to talk me through the experience and made me feel 110% safe in ways that go beyond just wearing a safety harness.

Pro Tip: Do this near sunset or in the evening to get a new visual understanding of Las Vegas, its lights, and its people.

A helicopter flying over the Las Vegas strip.
Reserve a Las Vegas Views Helicopter Tour

A Helicopter tour over Las Vegas will do more than just help you understand the layout of the strip, Fremont Street and the layout of Sin City. It’s also a stunning journey with 360-degree panoramic views of the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Allegiant Stadium, The STRAT, and historic downtown.

The flight lasts around 15 minutes, so it won’t eat up a big chunk of your time or budget. You simply get to fly around the city in a climate-controlled pod of a helicopter, taking it all in.

If you’re already staying at the Strat, this helicopter tour is available without transportation. If you’re not staying at the Strat, the transportation included in this package is cheaper than taking a cab or a ride share!

Get Tickets for the Eifel Tower Viewing Deck

Standing 46 stories above the Las Vegas Strip the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck, lets you take in 360-degree views of the city’s glittering skyline. It’s a must-do experience if you’re staying at the Paris resort or having a romantic evening there.

Best Time to visit Las Vegas Eifel Tower Viewing Deck

While it’s certainly breathtaking during the day, I think the next level experience is to ascend the Eifel Tower Viewing Deck in the evening.

Then reserve your time at the viewing deck to coincide with the Bellagio fountains show right across the street. You can find the most updated times for the Bellagio Fountain show here.

The High Roller Observation wheel lets you safely soar 550 feet above the Las Vegas Strip. I think it's a must-do experience if you’re staying at the LINQ.

This Ferris wheel on steroids lifts you up at a slow pace, which I liked as it lets me really take in the 360-degree views of the vibrant cityscape. Then as it gets to the top you slowly see the majestic desert surrounding Las Vegas expand into view.

Pro Tip: I think the best time to take a ride on the High Roller Observation Wheel is right toward the later end of sunset. You want to be getting into the pod 10 minutes before the official sunset time in Vegas. The desert beyond is golden and then you get to see the city start to go dark as the lights come on. It was an experience that blew me away.

You can us this link to determine the sunset time in Las Vegas, then book your spot on the High Roller Observation Wheel accordingly. A perfect move for a romantic evening!

The Fly LINQ Zipline gives you a perspective of the LINQ promenade that’s more than just a thrill. It’s an experience that very few Las Vegas tourists experience. You start out more than 12 stories above the promenade and as you descend, you’ll hit speeds of 35 MPH, which I learned is much faster on a zipline than it is in a car!

The most comfortable way to do it is to opt for the seated position. However, my daughter did it with the superhero pose and she now swears it’s the best way to do the LINQ Zipline.

NOTE: Parents, kids have to be 12 years or older to do the Fly LINQ Zipline, and they need to be accompanied by an adult or chaperone over 18. I would also note that the maximum weight rating is 300 pounds, which I appreciate as a large man.

Final Thoughts on Getting High in Las Vegas

It’s one thing to get high in Las Vegas after visiting Planet 13 or Thrive Cannabis Marketplace. Yet you can elevate your Sin City experience to the next level with a trip to the STRAT Tower Observation Deck or a bold Strat Sky Jump.

If you prefer an aerial ride-like experience the Maverick Vegas Views Helicopter Tour, or the High Roller Las Vegas are both comfortable options. I think it’s best to reserve a time around sunset to get the best views.
